Black and white portrait of author Sigrid Nunez

We are pleased to announce that the personal and professional papers of Sigrid Nunez '72 will be housed at the Barnard Archives. Nunez is the author of nine novels, including the National Book Award winner The Friend, the Barnard-inspired The Last of Her Kind, and her latest, The Vulnerables (2023), as well as the autobiographical work Sempre Susan: A Memoir of Susan Sontag. Two of Nunez's books have recently been adapted into films: The Room Next Door (based on the novel What Are You Going Through and written and directed by Pedro Almodóvar) and The Friend (based on the novel of the same name and written and directed by Scott McGehee and David Siegel). Through a generous planned gift, Nunez's papers will join the Archives' collections of personal papers of graduates.
