Study Break with the Archives: Archives & Heritage for Palestine Screening and Discussion
Join the Archives for a screening of a discussion between Dr. Salman Abu Sitta, Founder and President of the Palestine Land Studies Society (PLS), and Ghada Dimashk, Palestine Land Studies Center (PLSC) librarian and archivist. This discussion took place on June 4, 2024 and was the first in the archives & heritage for Palestine series co-hosted by Dr. Jamila Ghaddar and Tam Rayan. After the screening, we will discuss themes in the talk: reading along and against the archival grain in colonial and institutional records, interrogating archival silences, and using archival documentation to, as Dr. Sitta says, create “the map of the future.” Snacks will be served.
About the Barnard Archives and this event: As a repository of records of the life of Barnard College and broader feminist histories, we provide a space for critical, interdisciplinary inquiry into the past as well as the imagination of possible futures. We host workshops and discussions–such as this event–that encourage critical thinking around archival research, primary source literacy, and personal archiving.
Event is open to BC and CU ID holders only. Registration is not required. For any accommodations or questions, please email archives@barnard.edu.
