The staff of the archives are pleased to announce that the Quandra Prettyman papers are now available for access. During her time on the Barnard faculty (1970-2021), Professor Prettyman was a trailblazer in the creation of courses on Black literature. She was also the first Black faculty member to receive a full-time appointment at the College. This collection holds her teaching materials (including the syllabi for several of those courses), collegiate organizational records, and a few representations of her passion – for her students, the arts, and writing as a practice. This collection was processed by Archives graduate fellow Adia Augustin.View the guide to the Quandra Prettyman papers on our finding aids website; to make an appointment to view the papers, please contact archives@barnard.edu and see more information for researchers.
