Archives & COVID-19
COVID-19 Service Changes
The Barnard Archives & Special Collections reading room is open in a limited capacity, by appointment. Please visit our Locations, Hours, & Appointments page for more information on scheduling your visit. Access to Barnard's campus is currently restricted; if you are not affiliated with Barnard or Columbia (if you do not have a Barnard/Columbia ID/are not enrolled in CoVerified Barnard or ReOpen CU), please reach out to us with your request at archives@barnard.edu.
Staff continue to support researchers with remote requests; please email archives@barnard.edu. We offer free, limited scanning and remote reference services dependent on staff capacity. In your email archives@barnard.edu list if possible the collections (and if applicable the specific materials) which you are interested in or which for you want to request scans. You can use our finding aids and digital collections to narrow your request.
Our digital collections provide remote access to a fraction of our total collections, including digitized yearbooks, the school newspaper, photographs, oral histories, and Barnard Center for Research on Women documents.
Documenting COVID-19 at Barnard
Archives staff are working on a project to document the impact of COVID-19 on the Barnard community. We are collecting official communications from the College, archiving websites, and building a collaborative collection with the Barnard community.
We welcome your voices:
- Share a website, news story, or social media feed/post that reflects the impact of COVID-19 on Barnard for inclusion in a collaborative web archive (submit via this form)
- For faculty: if you have added or are thinking about adding a journaling or other documentation-based assignment to your syllabus, email archives@barnard.edu to discuss a class or individual donation to the archives.
- We welcome other donations of materials documenting COVID-19 and its impact on the Barnard community; please email archives@barnard.edu to discuss how to transfer digital or paper/analog records to the archives.
