A scholar, activist and fiction-writer, Professor Jane Bennett has published widely on feminist theory, sexualities, pedagogies and violence. She is interested in research allied to political activism within and beyond university spaces within the African continent. As Head of the African Gender Institute and editor of Feminist Africa, Professor Bennett works regularly with colleagues at the University of Buenos Aires, Makere University, the University of Ghana, The University of California-Davis, and the Human Sciences Research Council. She also works with a number of NGOs across Southern and Eastern Africa.  Her visit is the beginning of a long term collaboration between Barnard’s Africana Studies Program and the African Gender Institute.
